While Liberti Main Line is a new church, our beliefs and practices are not. We wholeheartedly embrace the good news of historic Christian faith.
In summary, that means we believe . . .
that in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth, God has acted to redeem and make new the cosmos he has created.
that Jesus Christ lived the life we should have lived and died the death we deserved to die.
that His resurrection from the dead is the fulcrum both of human history and of personal meaning in life.
We believe that by trusting in Jesus and letting go of our self-saving strategies we find life, meaning, joy and purpose. We are a people who are finding freedom and life as we are learning to depend upon Jesus, let go of our unbelief and fear, and find joy in the mission to which we are called.
We affirm the summary of biblical doctrine contained in the standards of the Reformed Church in America:
We also affirm the ancient Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds as the historical church has affirmed across the centuries as helpful summaries of the essence and activity of God.
In short, this means that we believe in . . .
one triune God by whom and through whom all things were made.
his son, our savior, Jesus Christ through whom we attain salvation.
a salvation that is only attainable through the grace of Jesus Christ and no one else.
a forgiveness and atonement that covers all sins.
a resurrection after death for those who follow Jesus.
a Bible that is completely true and trustworthy in what it teaches.
Our church is connected to a network of Liberti Churches in the greater Philadelphia region and is is part of the City Classis of the Reformed Church in America, a historic denomination in the Reformed family of the Christian Church. The RCA, founded in 1628 in New Amsterdam (today’s New York City), is the oldest Protestant denomination in the USA, and is characterized by both deep roots in historic, Reformed Christian faith, and an ongoing commitment to the mission of Christ in the world.
And, we are also participants in an international organization that seeks to start gospel-centered churches in the world's major metro regions called the Redeemer City to City Network.
Membership
At Liberti Church, we call membership being “in covenant.” In Christ, God makes promises of love and commitment to us, and we want to echo this same promise-making commitment in our relationships together. Here’s how you can come “in-covenant” and join Liberti:
In-covenant class. Several times a year, we offer a class to introduce people at our church to the beliefs of Christian faith, and what it means to be a part of the Liberti Church community.
One-on-One connection with a church leader. Everyone who would like to join Liberti will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one, or as a family, with a church leader, where you’ll be able to share your story, ask further questions, and consider how to get connected and involved in the life of the church.
Membership vows in a worship service. For those who would like to join themselves to Liberti Church, the final step is to make public promises to God and his people in a worship service. If you are becoming a Christian, this will also be an opportunity to celebrate the story of God’s grace in your life, and be baptized.
Baptism
In the Christian family, baptism is a “visible promise.” Just as hearing the Scriptures offers God’s promises of grace through Christ to us through our ears, the act of baptism holds out the promise of God’s grace to us visually. The act of baptism portrays God's love in Christ to us, and is the way in which we celebrate people connecting to God and to God's family.
If you'd like to talk with a church leader about being baptized, or having your child baptized, we'd love to connect with you; you can simply get in touch with us here.
